Sydney-based organist Samuel Giddy enjoys a varied career as a recitalist, educator, and church musician. 

 

From 2016–2019 Samuel studied organ at Sydney Conservatorium with Philip Swanton, graduating with first-class honours and the Frank Hutchens Student of the Year Award. He has given solo recitals extensively in Australia and the UK. In 2024 Samuel received 3rd prize at the Martini Organ Competition in Groningen, Netherlands. In 2025 he was awarded First Prize and the Audience Prize at the 12th Concours International Pour Orgue in St-Maurice, Switzerland, resulting in upcoming concert engagements in Switzerland and China.

 

As a church musician, Samuel has served as assistant organist at St Andrew’s Cathedral, and (since 2023) as Music Minister at St John’s Darlinghurst, where he founded the choir and concert series. In 2025 he was appointed Music Director at St Mark's Darling Point.

 

In addition to his liturgical and performance endeavours, Samuel maintains an active role in education, currently serving as an organ teacher for the Sydney Conservatorium Open Academy and the ACT Organ School. In addition to his musical pursuits, he holds a Graduate Diploma of Divinity from the Australian University of Theology.
