Sydney Organ Competition

The Organ Music Society of Sydney regrets to advise that due to the resurgence of the COVID 19 pandemic, particularly in NSW, all sections of the 2021 Sydney Organ Competition have been cancelled. The Preliminary, Junior, Intermediate and Open sections will not be held either as live events or online.

The decision has been taken reluctantly after receiving feedback from teachers and students, but with the conviction that it would be impossible to conduct the Competition on an equitable basis given the varying access of entrants to practice instruments.

All Competition entrants who have already enrolled will be contacted individually.

The Organ Music Society will put its energies into delivering a bigger and better Competition in 2022.

Welcome to the Sydney Organ Competition 2021

Monday 4 October

The Competition is administered by the Organ Music Society of Sydney.

Steering Committee: Godelieve Ghavalas, Dr Gregory Cunningham, Robert Fox

The Sydney Organ Competition has been in existence since 1988.  2021 is the 34th year.

The aim of our Competition is to foster a high standard of performance amongst young organ students so that they may gain experience in performing publicly and under pressure.  The Sydney Organ Competition encourages them to seek higher levels of excellence by competing. It also gives them an opportunity to meet their peers.

All members of the Society, friends and members of the public, are very welcome to attend all or either of the sections.

If Covid-19 protocols come into play, the competition will move to an online format requesting video recordings for adjudication.
